The largest number of foreign tourists arriving in Yangon International Airport in 2015 came from Thailand, sources from the Ministry of Transport said.
About 2 million tourists visited Myanmar via Yangon International Airport from January to December last year, topping last year’s record. In 2014, more than 1 million tourists entered Myanmar via Yangon International Airport, and more than 700,000 tourists came through the airport in 2013.
Thailand topped the list of arrivals with more than 160,000 tourists from Thailand visiting Myanmar in 2015.
“Most of the tourists who visited Myanmar via Yangon International Airport are from Thailand, followed by China and Japan,” said an official from the Immigration Department at the airport.
